When we began to film the prelim, we encountered a few issues whilst filming. Firstly, We couldn't find a free space to film for about 15 minutes, which delayed us with time until we found a free classroom. Next, we forgot to organise our props, such as the newspaper, so we borrowed one from student services, which ensured that we were ready to film. As we progressed with the set design, our first idea was to have a spinning chair so Jack could spin around with the newspaper but we couldn't find one that was unoccupied. Another problem that struck us was the issue of us only having two group members which made it awkward for us to both be in the shot at the same time. But luckily this meant we could show the process of us filming. Our last problem consisted of us not being able to take it seriously, which caused us to have uncontrollable laughter (see outtakes).
Our prelim task enabled us to over come the fear of being filmed and has refreshed Jack with his editing skills.
We was given an hour to film but because we wasn't able to start filming until 9:15 and was finished by 10, so we had 15 minutes less than some of the other groups but still managed to finish in time with more than enough extra shots. I think we had finished shooting early due to our storyboard being so precise and accurate that we knew what we were doing straight away. Our prelim lasts for one minute and five seconds, which is a bit long but overall I think it's worth it due to the quality.
If we had a chance to redo the prelim task we would of added dialogue because we had already completed the task before realising that we should of added dialogue. I think our piece works well without dialogue, due to the fact that we could show our true acting skills through NVC (non-verbal communication). Another way in which we could alter our prelim is by switching the location to the media room where we were originally going to film it but unfortunately it was taken by another group. Finally, the last alteration we would of made if we was to do the prelim again would just be to be more organised with props and to secure a location.
