Jack's chosen movie influence:
I have chose to use 'Brothers' as an inspiration to our opening sequence. In summary before leaving on his second tour in Afghanistan, Marine Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maquire), a leader, an athlete, a good husband and father, welcomes his screw-up brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal) home from prison. He'd robbed a bank. In country, Sam's helicopter is shot down and all are presumed dead. Back home, while Sam wastes away as a prisoner in a remote encampment, Tommy tries to take care of the widow (Natalie Portman) and her two children. While imprisoned, Sam experiences horrors unbearable, so when he's rescued and returns home, he's silent, detached, without affect, and he's convinced his wife and brother have slept together.
Sam suffers from intense psychological problems when he arrives home, this idea of Sam going to war and seeing some terrifying things is incredibly attractive for the opening for a thriller. It heavily influenced my idea of a soldier going into war and bearing witness to his brothers death. Mentally scared, the soldier is sent home; where he has left one war to go into battle with himself. We see the break down of a human. This will influence our opening sequence, as we wish to base story around the phychological aspects, where the main characters brother is killed in action, causing immense mental issues.
